XOX at the ISM 2025!
ISM, the leading international trade fair for the confectionery and snack industry, took place in Cologne from February 2 to 5, 2025.
Despite growing challenges, the atmosphere was characterized by optimism and innovation, according to the German Sweets e.V. association. The trade fair once again impressively demonstrated that personal encounters remain indispensable for long-term partnerships and economic growth.
“With rising visitor and exhibitor numbers and a growing exhibition area, ISM is continuing its clear upward trend. As a global source of inspiration and driver of innovations and trends, ISM sets standards for the booming global confectionery and snack industry – with a strong content and event program, renowned speakers and new formats for creators that inspire and network the industry,” says Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH, enthusiastically.
Koelnmesse GmbH reports: With exhibitor growth of 5.5% and a 5% increase in exhibition space, the trade fair continued its expansion course: over 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries impressively presented their latest trends, most innovative products and most exciting developments. Visitor numbers also rose by almost 7% to around 32,000 trade visitors from 135 countries, who came to do business and make valuable contacts.
“In addition to current trends such as sustainability, transparency, health, functionality and new combinations of different flavors or textures, classic confectionery and snacks were the focus of attention. The trend towards “Snacks On The Go”, where conventional meals are replaced by practical snacks, is also reflected in many new products,” according to Koelnmesse’s observations.
“I was at ISM for the first time 13 years ago and I have to say, this trade fair has become the 5th season for me,” says marketing employee Marina Mauritz at XOX. “It’s always nice to get to know old and new customers, meet long-standing suppliers and, of course, it’s also a good opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues.”
“Now it’s important to use the contacts as quickly as possible to further expand exports,” says Key Account Manager Franziska Dortschy, who is already looking forward to the next Sweets & Snacks Expo 2025 in Indianapolis.
